Signature & Specialty Fish

While we excel in all our fish and chip dishes, we’re particularly known for our exclusive creations—the Bellrock Smokie, Masala Fish, and Spicy Fish. Each of these was developed in-house and has earned a loyal following, with visitors traveling from far and wide to enjoy them.
 

What is an Arbroath Smokie?

The Arbroath Smokie is believed to have originated in the nearby village of Auchmithie. According to local legend, it was discovered when a fire accidentally cooked barrels of salted haddock. The result was a delicious smoked fish that quickly became a regional specialty. In 2004, the European Commission awarded Arbroath Smokies Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status, recognizing its unique heritage.

At The Bellrock, we’ve received numerous accolades, including the Sea Fish Quality Award, TripAdvisor recognition, and being voted "Best" by Tay FM. However, our greatest achievement is the trust of our customers who travel far to experience our crispy, high-quality fish and chips. We’ve also been featured on the BBC, most notably for our Famous Fish & Chips Buffet, one of the only buffets of its kind in the UK.
