The Bellrock is a family owned long established fish & chips shop located in Arbroath. The key to our success at The Bellrock is an excellent family friendly service. We serve a variety of delicious golden fish crispy suppers, authentic Italian pizzas, flaming grilled burgers and much more.
For a long time, we were the only fish and chips business to hold the Sea Fish Quality Award coming in the top 5 in the whole of Scotland. We even have some exclusive items; The Bellrock Smokie, Spicy Fish & Masala Fish. People travel from near and far to try these and this was all invented inhouse! We were the first ones ever to batter the famous Arbroath Smokie and it remains exclusive to us.
We prepare from fresh ingredients and the majority of our items are made fresh, then artistically prepared with master chefs, this ranges from desserts to main dishes!
For the convenience of our valued customers, The Bellrock is open 7 days a week, 12 – 10 PM. All orders can be placed either at the shop counter with our super friendly staff or for the convenience of waiting time the takeaway can be called in advance for order collection. If you can’t make your way to The Bellrock we also have a super-fast delivery service that covers all of Arbroath and we even go as far out as Carnoustie & Friockheim.
We are often told that we are the only restaurant in Scotland that do a Fish & Chip buffet!
Our buffet is great for everyone and proves to be very popular especially during holiday seasons. We have something to suit everyone from Battered Haddock & Spicy Fish to White Pudding, King Ribs, Sausages & more. This buffet is also a massive hit for private parties.
None of this would be achievable without our outstanding staff. Our core staff including our chefs, fryers & waitresses have been with us for over 10 years, so they are very experienced and amazing at what they do. We employ over 30 people and they take pride in their roles, likewise we will always do our best to keep them happy.
Recently the business has changed ownership. The original owner of the Bellrock, a family friend who wished to retire. He still comes in to keep us right and is a truly amazing individual. Since then we have implemented a lot of changes and have many more plans to come for both the restaurant and takeaway. One of the changes includes having separate fryers for gluten free and halal diets so we can cater for everyone. Other changes include using upgraded frying oil, filtering our oil twice a day, using higher quality fish and the best potatoes for our fresh cut chips. These premium ingredients ultimately help us reach the best quality fish and chips possible. Currently we are in the process of a huge renovation which we can’t reveal too much about, but we promise exciting things are to come!
The Bellrock is more than just a restaurant & takeaway, we support as many local causes as possible. This year alone we’ve donated over £1,000, this includes; sponsoring Forfar Farmington football club girls’ team, Charity Week Dundee, RNLI, raffles for Arbroath football club and much more. We have also supported TayFM Cash for Kids for the past few years and plan to continue supporting them as the money raised has a direct local impact on the Angus community.
